A heckofa way to start a Monday.
And a freakin’ Labor Day, too! He shoulda taken the day off!
The Candy Man’s fingers shivered against the cold steel of the trap door. The tunnel was dark. He snapped on a wall switch and a gasoline generator started humming. The lights below came on like several white eyes blinking open.
“All set, man. I can book on out of here anytime I want. And man, I mean anytime at all.”
He turned towards the monitors. No bears. In fact, no nothing. All the screens had turned to snow. All of them except the one in the room that Black Angus was in. Angus had been with Estavez for a year now. Angus insisted on being called “Black Angus” because he thought of himself as an unstoppable bull and because he was proud that he was black.
